2013-Jan-26 Left Kathmandu for Thailand

Stayed in Nepal for 13 days.
Cold and dusty Kathmadu shows a tremendous prospect.
Roads are broadening.
People are even more friendlier.
The infrastuctures are developing rapidly.
People are seeking ways to stability.
Governemet seems strong
Motors for mass transport have become older and badly worn out.
I had tough time managing many events in short time.
Read two nepali books: Jeewan phool li kanda by Jhamak Ghimirey, SAKASH by Jagadish Ghimire.
Bought three books for the journey back home: Gurkhas daughter, Abraham Lincoln and Sapanako Samadhi (Nepali).
I am waiting for a good time to write and upload pictures.

The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) invites applicants for a PhD research scholarship at the Crop and Environmental Sciences Division.

The successful candidate will conduct research on crop health and will manage field research plots throughout South and Southeast Asia in the following countries: Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, and the Philippines (IRRI). This 3-year PhD scholarship is part of IRRI’s multidisciplinary efforts to develop strategies for rice crop health management and to mitigate the impacts of production constraints. This project deals specifically with rice crop health and will be part of the IRRI plant disease management program. It focuses on finding integrated solutions to rice crop health problems, which include diseases, insect and animal pests, and weeds.

Level: The scholarship is for a PhD degree.

The Scholarship persiod:  3 years

Scholarship benefits: Round-trip airfare and related travel expenses, monthly stipend with local medical and accident insurance, university fees (with an upper limit), leadership and professional development funds, and research support costs.
